Pisces is a sign of the wrapping up of things and of the spiritual process of Transformation. It seems like a wrapping up or intensification of a long string of difficult events, for Pisces prepares the soul, for the manifestation of a new cycle. When the spiritual process is accomplished, we can then enter into a new cycle, into a higher level of the spiral of Life.

Transformation occurs when we change our consciousness. Transformation means the change of form, for example our face changes; even our organs change. They adapt themselves to the new level of our consciousness. The Teaching explains that Transformation occurs when the Higher Ethers replace 50 percent of the lower ethers. This means as our dense physical body absorbs more of the etheric substance and discharges more physical atoms, it becomes more etheric, powerful and beautiful. Eventually our bodies will be an exact reflection of our consciousness, just as the bodies of great Masters are.

Are you ready? Do you feel as if this is a time of “wrapping things up” of events or an intensifying of situations which may be in preparation for you to move into a new cycle in your life? Does it seem as if parts of your life-situations are in crises? If so, then you, we, are in alignment with the approaching energies of Pisces.

When we look at the greater cycles of Pisces and Aquarius we see a more expansive Transformation process being undertaken by all of humanity. Because we are nearing the end of the cusp period between Pisces and Aquarius (an approximate 700-year cycle) the more sensitive, receptive individual might say “this phenomena has been occurring in my life for many many years. Will it ever end?” Others, who are just now awakening to the outpouring energies of Aquarius, and changing their beingness from the old forms of Pisces to the new forms of Aquarius, will more intensely feel the “wrapping up cycle” during each annual Solar Festival of Pisces; in other words, many crises may seem to be hitting their lives, one after another and another. But it is helpful to keep in mind that the origin of all crisis is hidden in the Heart of the Galaxy – thus the situation is not simply personal but affects the person at the soul level and his or her future incarnations.

This month the Sun begins transmitting the energies of Pisces on Feb 20th, along with its ruling planets of Neptune, Jupiter and Pluto, to our planet Earth. Aspirants, disciples and initiates will take the Rays of the constellation and planets into their consciousness, utilizing the creative energies in service to the Plan of the Great Ones: Hierarchy and the Council of Shambhala.

Nijinsky took the creative reins and choreographed ballets. His ballets were L’après-midid’un faune (The Afternoon of a Faun, based on Claude Debussy’s Prélude à l’après-midi d’un faune) (1912), Jeux (1913), Till Eulenspiegel (1916) and Le Sacre du Printemps (The Rite of Spring, with music by Igor Stravinsky) (1913). Without his mentor’s supervision, Nijinsky entered into a relationship with Romola Pulszky, a Hungarian countess. An ardent fan of Nijinsky, she booked passage on board a ship that Nijinsky was due to travel on, and during the voyage Romola succeeded in engaging his affections. They were married in Buenos Aires when the company returned to Europe. Diaghilev is reported to have flown into a rage, culminating in Nijinsky’s dismissal. Nijinsky tried in vain to create his own troupe, but a crucial London engagement failed due to administrative problems.

During World War I, Nijinsky was interned in Hungary. Diaghilev succeeded in getting Nijinsky out for the American tour in 1916. During this time, Nijinsky choreographed and danced the leading role in Till Eulenspiegel. However, it was around this time in his life that signs of his dementia praecox were becoming apparent to members of the company.

Nijinsky had a nervous breakdown in 1919, and his career effectively ended. He was diagnosed with schizophrenia and taken to Switzerland by his wife, where he was treated unsuccessfully by psychiatrist, Eugene Bleuler. He spent the rest of his life in and out of psychiatric hospitals and asylums. Nijinsky died in a London clinic on April 8, 1950 and was buried in London until 1953 when his body was moved to Cimetière de Montmartre. The tombstone of Vaslav Nijinsky is in Cimetière de Montmartre in Paris. The statue, donated by Serge Lifar, shows Nijinsky as the puppet Petrouchka.

Great magnetism and energy are created in meetings if the members are punctual. It gives them self-respect and respect to others, and forms a unified group aura, which may be used to attract higher inspirations and impressions. Latecomers disturb the tension of the aura, and it takes time and energy to rebuild it. At first the sister refused; but the man was not going to give up; finally the sister invited him in. Praying for her husband and trying to ignite the kernel of faith in the sister’s heart. When I heard this story I knew his sister was going to be fine…for an ‘angel in disguise’ found his way to his sister’s home. She will be alright…for through this most faithful man, the woman’s faith is going to be ignited from the seed of faith in her heart.

When you compose a poem of beauty…that beauty remains with you and gives you faith in the spiritual power of beauty. When you compose music heard in the Higher Worlds, the language of the Higher Worlds will remain with you giving you faith in the Higher Worlds. When you commune with God in all His glory, you have faith in the continuity and immortality of life.

Faith is a word, but the power of faith is beyond words: it is experience; it is knowingness; it is beingness.

In Egypt the Winter Solstice was celebrated with state ceremonials in homage to the divine Mother Isis and her new-born son Horus. They chanted: “The Virgin has brought forth. The Light is waxing.”

Holy Night in Greece was greeted by songs in the key of Capricorn to the accompaniment of a flute. At a certain time Neophytes descended with lighted torches to an underground chapel and paid reverence to the image of the Babe whose brow was a shining cross of gold.

Christmas time every year is always a vital time, but this year and in the coming years it will be even more vital for Christmas time is now the time of transformation. If you start synchronizing yourself with the electricity of the Universe, with the Light of the Universe…you are going to bloom. You are going to manifest color and sound. You are going to become influential in the Life. You are going to become creative.

In addition to aligning yourself to the Sun, another thing you can try from the 21^st through the 26^th is to every morning raise your right hand at sunrise. Then hold your left hand out and say: “My Lord, pour down your blessings so that I pass them on to the world.” Feel it. This is so beautiful. This was used in ancient times by great priests. For example, they used to go to the top of the pyramid and invoke the sun. Zoroastrian priests, Tibetans in the Himalayas, in Greece, in North and South America did this.

Tradition at the time of the Winter Solstice says that our Solar Logos extends His Hand to the Great Sun, Sirius – symbolically, of course. Then He gets a Spark from that Great Sun and extends the next Hand to the Three Kings, which we call Orion.

He gets the three gifts from these Three Great Lives, and then He turns to Virgo, the Virgin, and gives these gifts. He then takes the gifts from Virgo and then gives them to our planet. This is forming a Five-Pointed Star. At the time of this formation a tremendous energy comes to our planet. If humanity does the needed preparations – mental preparation, emotional and spiritual preparation – humanity will feel, tremendously, the energies flooding the planet. This is called, in Cosmos, the Birth of the Cosmic Light.

Let me begin today’s writing about the New Group of World Servers with a quote from the Tibetan D.K.

“They are unable to influence the minds of the closed egocentric person; they can do little with the separative isolationist; they are ineffectual where the theologian of all groups -political, religious or social – is concerned, and they can do little with the type of mind that is concentrated upon personal or group problems (their group, expressing their ideas and working their way) and who fail to see themselves or the group in relation to the whole of humanity.”[1]

In our mental realm there is a lotus and this lotus slowly, slowly opens. This lotus has twelve petals. The outer petals are called petals of knowledge. The next petals are called petals of love. The next ones are called petals of sacrifice. The inner-most petals are the petals of of will, love, and light that charge the outer petals.

There is another beautiful lotus in the world and it is already in formation. It is a lotus formed by those disciples, aspirants, and Initiates who are called the New Group of World Servers. The Teachings tells us that when the lotus is ready, the innermost light will manifest, and that inner light is known as the Hidden Christ.

The members of the NGWS are all third degree initiates and higher; yet these initiates have assistants called aspirants and disciples who are recognizable in their own right. By their own hands and feet they selflessly dedicate themselves to serving those who are already working for humanity. Who, according to the level of their awareness, are supporting and assisting the thinkers in every school of thought, and of those who are working in every field of human betterment. In fact these dedicated servers, who though are not yet third degree initiates…are moving in that direction finding the petals of their Lotus in the process of unfoldment.

Let me give a little bit of information about a third degree initiate – so we can recognize them, and if called, ready to assist them in their endeavors.

First – they are free from the ancient authority of their threefold personality. They can stop their negative thinking, their worrying and immediately start to work on something very creative. They can see or intuitively sense the divine Plan working in the history of humanity; they can also see or intuitively sense the vision behind the Plan, which is the Purpose of God. They are beginning to see why this world was created, why we are here, and how we can go forward toward that Purpose. Their imagination is not blurring their consciousness. Their minds are open and clear, like a sky with no clouds present. Clouds are illusions.

Illusions are those distorted truths that a person retains in his or her mental body as facts, as realities, and deductions which cause their decisions to be wrong because their calculations were based on wrong figures. A third degree initiate is a translator of higher concepts. He has met his Solar Angel face to face. His Solar Angel is his first source of inspiration, ideas, and vision. In fact his personality is now fused with his Solar Angel.

The Third degree initiate is gradually unfolding his mental (higher) powers as he tries to penetrate into the laws of Nature and has a vision of his true essence.

During the time of his of initiation ceremony the physical, emotional and mental nature was flooded with a great light and energy coming from his Lotus. This enables the Initiate to stand in the presence of his/her Solar Angel, to have direct communication with Him, and to bring through service the Intelligence, the Love, and the Will energy to humanity and in his field of human endeavor.

The initiation process expanded the service of the Initiate into greater light, greater vision and in fuller response to Hierarchy, the Lord of the World and Shambhala.

Such a person is a member of the New Group of World Servers.

Under the influence of Sagittarius, in the earlier stages, the individual is striving to satisfy his desires and animal incentives; in the later stages of Sagittarius, and after the preliminary work has been done, his goal becomes that of initiation, which meets with the influence of the sign of Capricorn. Sagittarius is the preparatory influence for initiation in Capricorn.

And thus, the keynote for the Sagittarian is aspiration and direction.

The Tibetan generally outlines the certain stages of the path for the Sagittarian by saying:

-From ambition to aspiration

-from selfishness to an intense desire for selflessness,

-from individual one-pointed self interest in Leo

-to the one-pointedness of the disciple in Sagittarius

-and thence to initiation in Capricorn.

I want to touch on two subjects regarding the energies of Sagittarius and how all of us can become responsive to the outpouring flow of the planets, rays and beauty of this sign.

Crises come into being when the person, individually or as a group, begins to see the hindrances which he created in the past is threatening the possibility of his own survival.

These hindrances and problems are eventually confronted and particularly recognized on the path of discipleship when the individual moves onto the reverse wheel of the zodiac. He will confront the results of the actions of his ego trapping the human soul in illusion, glamour, vanity and greed. The greater the action of the ego, or the violation of the ego against the consciousness of the human soul, the more difficult the reaction to solar, galactic and cosmic energies.

At the time of the full moon energy of Sagittarius, the disciple will have an opportunity to confront a crisis, giving him opportunity for freedom and to more clearly see the goal of this life.

The tests can be through:

1. His leadership in relationship to Initiation. Initiation is a progressive advancement toward the Self.
2. Unity
3. Evolution; evolution is related to the function of the inherent light in the person which leads him to perfection.
4. Harmony and Being. An opportunity will be presented to the individual where the spirit can manifest its depth through physical matter.
5. Progressive action; progressive action means steady refinement and transformation of life in which the person will be able to conquer sickness, poverty, ignorance and pain.
6. Living as a cause rather than as an effect. This crisis provides the opportunity for the soul in man to live and act as a cause instead of as a result.
7. Expression of Divinity; every soul has the right to manifest its supreme divinity, its supreme glory. And opportunity will be given to the unfolding disciple to express his supreme divinity.

Each crises brings to the disciple an opportunity to:

“See the goal. Reach the goal and see another.”

“A goal is part of the plan of the Soul, or the synthesis of all the best aspirations of a person. The average person finds it for a short interval and then loses it. An aspirant finds it for a life and then chases after something in the next life. A disciple finds it and grows with it. An Initiate is a living and expanding goal.” [2]

Sagittarian energy stimulates the desire to reach the goal. Whenever one contacts Sagittarian energy, he makes an effort to find his life’s goal¾a noble goal. Most people, if you will observe this, do not have noble goals and instead drift here and there without any direction.

A goal is a magnetic center established in the domain of the future. It is this magnetic center which pulls a person up and establishes a direction for him. It is the magnetic pull of the goal that enables a person to step forward on the path of his evolution and take initiation. The first initiation is the moment when a person takes steps in the right direction.

A question that comes to mind is: “What is meant by the term Other Worlds?” I can perhaps more easily answer this question by asking what it is not. The Other Worlds is not the physical world. The Other Worlds existed before the existence of the physical world, before the material world in which humanity seems to be stuck. Those who are not conscious of the Other Worlds live in a dream world where they sleep. Sages, however, are conscious of the Other Worlds, and in that awakened state, function consciously in the Other Worlds.

The mainstream of human beings is earthbound and as such will likely laugh and ridicule that factually there are indeed Other Worlds. But those who have a sensitive heart and have had certain Other World experiences will tell you that, “Yes, the Other Worlds are a reality.”

The Other Worlds includes what the Agni Yoga Teaching defines as the Subtle World; also known as the astral plane. Its frequency is a little higher than the physical-etheric world. The Fiery World, a term extensively noted in the Agni Yoga series, refers to the higher mental plane, and beyond.

We could say that the Subtle World is water – steamy and emotional. The Fiery World refers to the world of air while the physical world is dense matter – our Earth.

The Agni Yoga Teaching is resourced from the Higher Worlds. It is in this Teaching where we find formulas to harmonize our steps with Cosmic Visions.

It is important that we recognize our earthly life is a short yet important mission in which we need to realize and live our life’s purpose and then graduate from our earthly life with honor.

Aspirants and certainly disciples of all degrees must realize that their earthly mission was inspired from the Higher Worlds – a call from the Most High – with a purpose and plan; that which they must actualize in this incarnation in a most creative manner. In other words, the creative life they had in the Other Worlds will be manifested in their earthly life.

During each incarnation on this planet, we are charged with the responsibility to bring our creative skills from the Higher Worlds – especially the Fiery Worlds – with us into our incarnations. It is not an easy thing to do, to bring back our higher realizations from the Higher Worlds and manifest them on the earthly plane. Why? Karma and a lack of consciousness.

Spiritual will or willpower, is the energy of the Core of the human being. Our Core; our Divine Spark, receives this energy from the core of the Solar System and it feeds into our Chalice or Lotus. The more developed and unfolded the petals of your Lotus, the greater (and safer) the expression of Spiritual Will. Remember the Lotus has twelve petals. Where we commonly understand the petals of the Lotus as the petals of knowledge, love and sacrifice, it is also correct to relate the twelve petals to the twelve signs of the zodiac. There are two points for you to ponder regarding the expression of Will, especially Spiritual Will. First, it is not until you have taken the third initiation that you, as a disciple, will become totally immersed in the study and expression of Spiritual Will. As the will energy stimulates the third, sixth and ninth petals of your Chalice, there will also be a registration taking place in the 10^th, 11^th, and 12^th petals.

It is during the Solar Festivals that we have an opportunity to experience the outpouring energy of will energy. Agni Yoga, 1929

 Agni Yoga, 312. One must distinguish between objective difficulties and those caused by lack of skill. Objective difficulties are caused by external obstacles on the higher path, but lack of skill results from one’s own mental blindness.

Agni Yoga, 403. It is essential not to mislead newcomers into thinking that the Teaching of Agni Yoga is easy. Truly, it is not easy, for there is much tension and danger in it. No one should be seduced by the idea of honeyed ease. Gaining mastery of the fires is a slow process. Premature and hasty steps threaten the striving one with conflagration. What seemed to be a high achievement is later seen as low, when one is on the next step…. Around an Agni Yogi you will always find construction, whose very difficulties are stepping stones in the overcoming of imperfection. Manifestations of Light are not easy to achieve, but then the Fire of Space illumines the far-off worlds.

Do not bring weak ones near, for they cannot hold on to the treasure. It is better to entrust the task only to those few who will be able to make right decisions for correct action. They will learn to love the difficulties and will not betray.

Agni Yoga, 444. Are not the difficulties that arise preferable to dead silence? Is not the whirlwind the product of motion? The teaching about the overcoming of difficulties is the teaching about the striving toward good.

Hierarchy, 1931

 Hierarchy, 77. Each step requires new circumstances. Each new step brings its affirmed power. Therefore in the midst of the difficult time, a mighty step in conformity with the difficulties is being laid. Hence the creative activity of Our co-workers will bring the manifestation of success when thoughts shall be affirmed upon the might of the future. Thus We build a wondrous step! Thus We build amidst the dissolution of the countries! Thus Our Power enters into life! The manifestation of a new step is so close, but the world decides its fate.

Hierarchy, 112. After having chosen the Lord and the Guru, no retreat is possible. The path lies only onward, and sooner or later with ease or difficulties you will come to the Teacher. When the black ones surround you and close their circle, there will remain only the path upward to the Lord. Then you will feel that the Lord is somewhere not far off and that the silver thread is above you. You have but to stretch out your hand! We can meet without the help of the black ones, but more often only he who is pressed from all sides reaches out to the silver thread, and only in distress does he learn the language of the heart. One should feel the Lord and the Guru in the heart.

Hierarchy, 202. It is premised that around good deeds difficulties always arise. What does this prove? Does it prove the weakness of Light and the power of darkness? Let us remember, however, that with developed vision many things are perceived. Similarly, a refined spirit perceives much that is inaccessible to deadened senses. Besides, are we not in need of a counteracting force in order to become accustomed to withstanding the unmanifested elements? This benevolent force of resistance is apprehended only in action and is accumulated as an armor of the spirit. Can one complain about the development of resistance to evil? No, certainly not-this armor of the spirit is not only a defense it is also a magnet which attracts allies. Therefore, bless everything that develops counteraction and resistance to evil.

Fiery World I, 457. There is a parable about the trial by difficulties, in which it is shown that people always try to choose the easiest way, whereas that which seems easiest turns out to be the most difficult. Examples both amusing and tragic can be cited. It is justly pointed out that the cleverest person may enumerate to himself all the details of an easy achievement, but forget just the one which turns out to be the most difficult. By body alone we cannot escape fire and water. One should remember about flaming thought.

Fiery World I, 607. Also let us rejoice at such a path. Let the thought about transformation of the heart be a source of joy. Many sorrows and difficulties come from egoism. Many horrors arise from egoism. Many obstacles originate in egoism. One should cease to think about limitations. Since the fiery seed is bestowed, one should rejoice that we carry so great a pearl because of the trust of Hierarchy itself.

Fiery World I, 663. How can one attain success? Remember, through joy—not through despair, but joy. Do not for an instant believe that We ponder the probability or improbability of success. The thought is, Does your joy suffice to quicken the ascent? We always counsel joy. It is necessary to realize and remember that you have succeeded when you rejoiced. Certainly this is not the frisking of a calf on the meadow, but the creative joy which transforms all difficulties. The play of the Mother of the World is in joy. She enfolds the enlightened ones in Her veil of joy. Rejoice amidst flowers; and in the midst of snow—equally redolent—also rejoice!

Fiery World II, 1934

 Fiery World II, 191. On entrance into the monastic life all difficulties of such a path were usually pointed out. Some would say-all is easy; others would warn-all is difficult. To people with fiery heart one may say-all is easy; but for the ordinary consciousness it is better to caution-all is difficult. If someone takes to flight at a single warning about difficulties, then he, all else being equal, is unfit for persistent labor. One should not gather together people who are obviously unfit. Fear of labor is already a treason.

Fiery World III, 1935

 Fiery World III, 37. The achievement of the spirit consists in that amidst earthly difficulties and struggles the spirit develops the higher striving. The spirit cannot become affirmed amidst conditions of well-being or abundance. Therefore the co-workers can prove the strength of their spirit and striving amidst daily labors and difficulties. How could one attain the highest state, attain refinement of consciousness, without spiritual labor? So many blessed cares are on the path of purification of consciousness! Each action which rends the spirit from earthly desires is a higher affirmation. The path to the Fiery World leads through the labors of spirit, through earthly privations; and highest achievements come through departure from earthly manifestations in quest of the higher ones. Thus, when it is said, �the achievement of spirit will be with those who have known the struggle and search for knowledge,� it means this will be a fiery attainment. Thus let us remember upon the path to the Fiery World.

Fiery World III, 39. The essence of fiery advancement comes from various affirmations of spirit. The chief factor will be the development of self-activity. In self-activity will be contained love for Hierarchy; in it will be contained a feeling of responsibility and a true understanding of Service. Thus when we speak of self-activity, one should understand that it includes all qualities of higher affirmation. When a co-worker takes upon himself the development of self-activity, his field of action becomes unlimited. Hierarchy becomes the fiery impetus of all his actions. No attacks, near or far, are frightening to the co-worker, because he knows fiery service. Therefore it is so important to purify one’s consciousness from selfhood. But the co-worker must be prepared to accept all difficulties, knowing that Service to Hierarchy is the highest attainment.

Fiery World III, 94. The abyss may be conquered by different paths. Courage in the face of the unfolding abyss is attained precisely when the spirit places everything at stake. It is correct that the spirit can be tempered only in life. The overcoming of life’s difficulties will bring the spirit its spark. Spiritual conquests are so difficult. The physical body endures privations in self-satisfaction, but the spirit conquers difficulties. And the fiery spiritual strife can uplift to a great height. Thus, let us aspire to spiritual difficulties. The abyss can unfold itself before the heart. Thus it seems that the path of life proceeds inexorably; but the heart which realizes the abyss is also conscious of the Light. For, when a final boundary has been manifested it is possible to unroll a Fiery Infinity. Only in complete striving can the spirit unfold its wings. On the path to the Fiery World one must be imbued with fearlessness before the abyss. The winged spirit knows this joy of attainment.

You can be a traveler of the spiritual path from childhood to adulthood, yet still not undergo the process of spiritual change. Change requires transmutation and transformation; it requires from most of us, courage to change.

In the Agni Yoga Series there are several references to the affects that an Agni Yogi experiences as he travels the path of Transformation. A Great One indicates that as a Yogi undergoes the spiritual process of change his or her health will be affected. Reading the pages on Helena Roerich’s fiery experiences from At the Threshold of the New World by Helena Roerich can substantiate this statement.

In the book Agni Yoga, verse 201, it says: “There exists the false impression that a yogi possesses unfailing health in the usual sense. But can one fashion a sensitive instrument out of a log? Does not the value of the strings of the vina [a kind of guitar used in India and Tibet] lie in their response to the finest intervals of tone? Equally resonant is the sensitive apparatus of the yogi. Indeed, to him alone are known the indescribable fleeting pains which, like the tuning of the strings of the vina, transform his being.”

“One can understand that We shall not stress any lack of danger on the path of Yoga. How can one avoid pain during the regeneration of the centers?”

“All the usual nomenclature for these pains is useless, so long as science will not hasten to understand the significance of psychic energy or spirituality. The farther removed is the understanding from the danger of Yoga, the farther is man from unity with the Highest Consciousness. For this, casual flights of consciousness are not valuable. What is needed is the incessant song of soaring. The vina does not always ring out, but its intonation is always harmonious.

“Those who seek Yoga for robust health had better partake of a glass of wine and discuss lofty ideas without applying them to life. -head center (pineal gland)

These centers are found in the etheric body of the human constitution with their corresponding glands found in the physical body. These centers are also found in the astral body and mental body, but of a more refined substance.

The regeneration of the centers requires transmutation and transformation, thereby creating spiritual change.

Regeneration of these Centers requires an exchange of energy and force from the higher ethers into the lower, bringing down the more refined substance of the higher ethers into the more coarse lower physical/etheric planes and centers.

The higher Cosmic Ethers are extremely beautiful and imbued with the fire of Space. Eventually the Agni Yogi will draw these higher energies into his lower nature causing spiritual change.

The first step is transmutation. Transmutation occurs when the energies come from higher substance into your lower centers in the etheric body of the human constitution and begin to transform the nature of those centers. This process of transformation begins to reflect itself truer to the nature of your Divine Archetype, or Monad.

What are the higher ethers? The Intuitional Plane, Atmic Plane, Monadic Plane and Divine Plane. The lower ether is the substance from which our physical body is made.

At this stage of spiritual change you are now liberated from the control of the personality vehicles.

It is at the stage of Transfiguration, or the Third Initiation where you can now fully escape the limitations of the lower ethers and function on the higher mental planes.

The etheric body is the vehicle of prana and the prototype of the physical body. The etheric body is a most important protective substance to the human constitution and person, helping to prevent premature contact with the higher fires along the spine and the various planes, although that protective mechanism can be violated with wrong exercises, such a kundalini exercises, prolonged chanting and prolonged or wrong meditation, as well as abuse of drugs and alcohol.
