Pisces is a sign of the wrapping up of things and of the spiritual process of Transformation. It seems like a wrapping up or intensification of a long string of difficult events, for Pisces prepares the soul, for the manifestation of a new cycle. When the spiritual process is accomplished, we can then enter into a new cycle, into a higher level of the spiral of Life.
Transformation occurs when we change our consciousness. Transformation means the change of form, for example our face changes; even our organs change. They adapt themselves to the new level of our consciousness. The Teaching explains that Transformation occurs when the Higher Ethers replace 50 percent of the lower ethers. This means as our dense physical body absorbs more of the etheric substance and discharges more physical atoms, it becomes more etheric, powerful and beautiful. Eventually our bodies will be an exact reflection of our consciousness, just as the bodies of great Masters are.
Are you ready? Do you feel as if this is a time of “wrapping things up” of events or an intensifying of situations which may be in preparation for you to move into a new cycle in your life? Does it seem as if parts of your life-situations are in crises? If so, then you, we, are in alignment with the approaching energies of Pisces.
When we look at the greater cycles of Pisces and Aquarius we see a more expansive Transformation process being undertaken by all of humanity. Because we are nearing the end of the cusp period between Pisces and Aquarius (an approximate 700-year cycle) the more sensitive, receptive individual might say “this phenomena has been occurring in my life for many many years. Will it ever end?” Others, who are just now awakening to the outpouring energies of Aquarius, and changing their beingness from the old forms of Pisces to the new forms of Aquarius, will more intensely feel the “wrapping up cycle” during each annual Solar Festival of Pisces; in other words, many crises may seem to be hitting their lives, one after another and another. But it is helpful to keep in mind that the origin of all crisis is hidden in the Heart of the Galaxy – thus the situation is not simply personal but affects the person at the soul level and his or her future incarnations.
This month the Sun begins transmitting the energies of Pisces on Feb 20th, along with its ruling planets of Neptune, Jupiter and Pluto, to our planet Earth. Aspirants, disciples and initiates will take the Rays of the constellation and planets into their consciousness, utilizing the creative energies in service to the Plan of the Great Ones: Hierarchy and the Council of Shambhala.
Do you know a person whose Sun sign is in Pisces? It is always interesting to take a well-known person, or one familiar to us, to learn how that person, or persons, reflect the various energies associated with, in this case, Pisces. Here is an example of Vaslav Nijinski, whose Sun sign was in Pisces at birth.

Vaslav Nijinski—Ballet Dancer (1890-1950) March 12, 1890, NS, Kiev, Russia, 10:30 PM, LMT. Birth information is based upon biography of his wife Ramola stating that he was “born in the evening after his mother danced at the theater”.

Nijinsky took the creative reins and choreographed ballets. His ballets were L’après-midid’un faune (The Afternoon of a Faun, based on Claude Debussy’s Prélude à l’après-midi d’un faune) (1912), Jeux (1913), Till Eulenspiegel (1916) and Le Sacre du Printemps (The Rite of Spring, with music by Igor Stravinsky) (1913). Nijinsky created choreography that exceeded the limits of traditional ballet and propriety. For the first time, his audiences were experiencing the futuristic, new direction of modern dance. The radically angular movements expressed the heart of Stravinsky’s radically modern scores. Nijinsky’s new trends in dance caused a riotous reaction at the Théâtre de Champs-Elysées when they premiered in Paris.
In 1913, Diaghilev’s (see footnote) Ballets Russes toured South America. Diaghilev did not make this fateful journey, because he was told by a fortune teller in his younger days, that he would die on the ocean if he ever sailed. Without his mentor’s supervision, Nijinsky entered into a relationship with Romola Pulszky, a Hungarian countess. An ardent fan of Nijinsky, she booked passage on board a ship that Nijinsky was due to travel on, and during the voyage Romola succeeded in engaging his affections. They were married in Buenos Aires when the company returned to Europe. Diaghilev is reported to have flown into a rage, culminating in Nijinsky’s dismissal. Nijinsky tried in vain to create his own troupe, but a crucial London engagement failed due to administrative problems.
During World War I, Nijinsky was interned in Hungary. Diaghilev succeeded in getting Nijinsky out for the American tour in 1916. During this time, Nijinsky choreographed and danced the leading role in Till Eulenspiegel. However, it was around this time in his life that signs of his dementia praecox were becoming apparent to members of the company.
Nijinsky had a nervous breakdown in 1919, and his career effectively ended. He was diagnosed with schizophrenia and taken to Switzerland by his wife, where he was treated unsuccessfully by psychiatrist, Eugene Bleuler. He spent the rest of his life in and out of psychiatric hospitals and asylums. Nijinsky died in a London clinic on April 8, 1950 and was buried in London until 1953 when his body was moved to Cimetière de Montmartre. The tombstone of Vaslav Nijinsky is in Cimetière de Montmartre in Paris. The statue, donated by Serge Lifar, shows Nijinsky as the puppet Petrouchka.
Continuing on with the energies of Pisces….
Keynote of the personality: And the Word said: Go forth into matter. Observe if your attachment to matter is increasing: for example, fear of death, fear of sickness, fear of loneliness, fear of being alone, fear of being disliked, fear of poverty, and this and that. Are you a person of energy or a person of inertia? Why? Remember that many millions of years ago, our Spark took an initiation, the initiation of Individualization. From that moment forward, it began Its struggle to evolve—to overcome matter and respond to the call of Shambhala.
Keynote of the Soul: I leave the Father’s Home, and turning back, I save. It takes many thousands of incarnations before one can reach this level of awareness and sacrifice. Many religious people feel as if the task of their conversion is to pull others into the dogma of their religious tradition and thus save humanity. However, the esotericist realizes that we cannot save others until we save ourselves. To save ourselves means to release the human soul from the prison of the personality vehicles. How does a disciple save? Through service, through sacrifice, through education, and through life example.
Have you had moments where you experienced your real Self? Have you had a moment of contact with the Master? With your Solar Angel? If you can answer yes to any of these questions, at the moment of contact at the full moon of Pisces, your soul will have responded to the higher keynote. Each year the response of your soul to this keynote prepares your next phase of service, the greater cycle of Aquarius and the lesser cycle of the Solar Festival of Aries.
Starting now, you can prepare your consciousness for Aries—and the expanding service for the new zodiacal year. The new year begins on the vernal equinox, March 20, when the Sun moves into Aries.
This cycle provides an opportunity for the human soul to be pulled up into the higher mind, withdrawing itself from the personality life. If this occurs, the unfolding human soul will experience a momentary freedom from the pull of the lower vehicles and will experience a sense of future, of the continuity of life.
Are you a Pisces? Are you related to or have a close friend who is a Pisces? Please share some Pisces traits that you recognize in that person. For example, are they unusually talented? Sensitive? Dramatic in nature? Do they have addiction problems? Pisces is the sign that symbolizes the most difficult stage in human evolution, the transcendence of the self. Pisces symbol is two fishes swimming in opposite directions. There are two types of Piscean people; the advanced (Pisces as the last stage in the evolution of the archetypal ego or self) and the primitive (Pisces as the stage just prior to a new beginning in Aries.)
Footnote:
If you are a practitioner of Agni Yoga, you will recognize the name of Diaghilev in the writings of Sina Fosdick. Sina was the first director of the Roerich Museum and Agni Yoga Society in New York. Last year, 2015, her diaries “My Teachers: Meetings with the Roerich’s” was published in a book by the WMEA. She gives us pieces of information that I thought you might find interesting. She wrote, “Adolf Bolm, a prominent Russian dancer with the Diaghilev “Ballets Russes,” invited Frances Grant to his home for a Christmas party. Bolm had already worked with Roerich in 1909, during the famous “Russian Season” in Paris. When inviting Miss Grant, he said that in his house she would meet his close friends, Nicholas and Helena Roerich. At Bolm’s party, the Roerichs invited Frances to visit them in the Hotel des Artistes, an artists’ residence where they were staying. That was the meeting that changed her entire life. She described how she had been immediately accepted as a friend, as if a member of the family.
Sergei Pavlovich Diaghilev (1872–1929): Russian art critic and theater impresario, one of the founders of the “World of Art” movement and also the organizer of the famous Ballet Russes in Paris. From 1905, he permanently resided in Paris.
In beauty,
