Wendy Thompson
Wendy J Thompson is a Producer, Director, Screenwriter, Educator, Leader, Playwright and co-Founder of the Global Silent Minute. Wendy strives to create work imbued with purpose to touch the heart with radiant synthetic beauty.
She has produced a number of award-winning films through her company Sirius Films; served as a board member for the Australian Directors Guild; and, for the past two decades, worked at Australia’s premiere screen academy, The Australian Film Television and Radio School (AFTRS) as Designer/Teacher of directing courses at all levels and Course Leader for the highly successful Graduate Certificate Program.
At AFTRS she initiated and ran a program for staff called Random Acts of Creative Practice, and co-led the Arts8 Collaborative Projects Initiative where students from the 8 elite national training institutions produced innovative transformative works through experiment, collision and synthesis of discipline methodologies and practice. Most recently she has designed courses for the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) and the University of Melbourne, and completed her first play entitled The Waiting Room or Six Characters (+ a Horse, a Dog and a dead Seagull) in Search of an Actor.
Underpinning all exterior activity has been the deep sustaining life thread of the livingness of the Ageless Wisdom teachings of the Yoga of Fire/Synthesis.
